Driftwood and Lava Necklace
Driftwood piles high on Iceland's black sand beaches- for 1100 years it was the only source of wood on the treeless arctic island.
Artist, sculptor, designer and calligrapher Soffia Arnadottir transforms it- often with strands of wild horsehair, lava and leather- into striking assemblages in her collection called REKI. The effect is a collection of timeless talismans to be worn alone or in layers. Each is hand-made but close to the one pictured here.
